Resort police seize four hundred fake IDs

Police and merchants have confiscated more than four hundred fake ID playing cards from under-age drinkers in a holiday resort in less than a month.

The seizures came as a whole lot of public schools students descended on Polzeath for an early summer time vacation before the state school time period ended.

Locals have complained of rowdy beach events, noise, drunkenness, and vandalism involving up to 500 people.

However police stated a number of the complaints have been being “blown out of proportion”.

However Polzeath resident Tess Smith stated the problem was worse than last year.

“There were a thousand kids on the beach on one evening, screaming, chanting and urinating.

“There was an horrendous amount of noise till three within the morning.

“It was total anarchy. They might do exactly what they needed as a result of there have been only four policemen there.”

Downside ‘subsided’

One under-age youngster, amongst a group drinking and smoking hashish on the beach, stated alcohol was straightforward to get.

“Some serve you under age. When you’ve got fake ID they’ll serve you anything.”

Police rejected the accusation, saying retailers have been seizing about 40 fake IDs a day.

Four hundred fake playing cards have been recovered from kids since the starting of July.

However Sgt Robin Moorcroft, who’s answerable for the police operations in Polzeath, stated the problem had now subsided.

He stated: “There have been incidents of public disorder assaults and drunkenness, but some of it’s being blown out of proportion.”

Four law enforcement officials are on responsibility this year within the resort in July and August following disturbances last year.
